Margins, Borders, Tendrils, Twines: Thinking with Plants as Cosmopolitics

Ignored or relegated to the outer margins of philosophy for centuries, plants have encroached upon 21^st century thought together with the realization that the planetary crisis of the Anthropocene requires, in addition to the sustained critique of capitalism, significant shifts in Northern/Western epistemologies. Thinking with plants cultivates the “ecology of practices” of a “cosmopolitics” in Isabelle Stengers’ sense, in which “cosmos” stands for not for one, but for “multiple, divergent worlds,” and the translative, sometimes bewildering articulations between them.
