Résumé
The purpose of this study is to consider the manifestations and signs of feminism, post-feminism and postmodernist feminism in current Georgian poetry. In addition, according to the analysis of the viewpoints of Georgian classicists, feminism is confirmed as an ideology of the women’s rights and equality with the men, generally regarded as an issue for most of the Georgian scholars. Therefore, feminism declared in the current poetic texts, with its changes, is a kind of reflection, as referring to the same item and self-determination.
Literature is the best space for reflecting and provoking any socio-cultural formation and oscillation. Accordingly, the literary texts constitute the most reliable, honest, and time-sustainable fictional “tractates” of such changes. The third wave of feminism, appearing at the turn of the XX-XXI centuries, based on the post-modern, post-structural and post-colonial theories, conducts the revision of feminism and looking at it from a new perspective. The third wave feminists attempt to achieve their goals through the cultural activities and declare their messages in such a form.
Post-feminism, which provides understanding of the achieved results with the help of feminist movement and, meanwhile, it means looking at feminism not from anti-feminism, but from a different angle, is considered as fully antifeminist by its criticians.
In addition to actively responding to women’s discrimination, post-modern feminism defines that a society consists of not women and men, but of the human beings. Different groups may be formed based not on their sex and gender affiliation, but other similar features and viewpoints; therefore, women will not be able to realize themselves just by means of one – women’s voice. Similar tendencies have been reflected in the contemporary Georgian literature as well too, including poetry. It is noteworthy that nowadays there is an unprecedented large number of female writers in Georgia, literary representation of who is seen with different topics, discourses and positions.
Research materials, provided in the suggested study are the texts of the contemporary Georgian poets. The presented materials have been researched on the basis the hermeneutic, analytical and comparative methods.
